Hey, My name is Martha AnnMerritt Taylor. I go by my middle name, AnnMerritt. I was born in Birmingham, Al and lived there until I was around 9 or so. Then I moved to Fairhope, Al where I lived until I graduated. I moved to mobile and attended South for my freshman year. My sophomore year I moved to Auburn and attended school there. I moved back to Fairhope and am halfway through my Junior year at South. I am majoring in Secondary Education/English Language Arts. I am aiming to attend Graduate school at South, which is why I moved back here to finish my undergraduate degree. I am majoring in secondary education because I'd like to teach literature or creative writing at a college level. I plan on continuing my education to get my Masters degree and PhD. (Hopefully!)
I am the oldest sibling, cousin, grandchild, everything in my family. I turned 21 on January 12th and spent this past weekend celebrating with my friends at The Beau Rivage in Biloxi, MS. I have a younger brother who is 18 years old. He attends the University of South Alabama and is Phi. My younger sister is in 3rd grade at Bayside Academy. My dad lives in Birmingham, Al and is co-owner of "Sweet Bones Alabama" which is a restaurant in The Summit. If your ever there, you should try it! The food is great! My mom lives in Fairhope, Al and has been remarried to my stepdad for over 10 years.
I play guitar and sing. People tell me I have a great voice, but I definitely can't say the same for my guitar skills. I do it mostly for fun, and when I'm alone to save other peoples ears, ha ha. I love doing anything that involves the water like tubing, wakeboarding, boating, white water rafting, etc. Growing up I played 2nd base and center field in softball and was a cheerleader, cocaptain one year and captain another. I really miss playing both sports and would love to get involved with them again one day.
AnnMerritt,
ReplyDeleteI know that one day you will be an excellent literature/creative writing teacher one day.
I am commenting on my blog for verification.
ReplyDeletep.s. Thanks Alicia! I hope so :)
AnnMerritt,
ReplyDeleteI just want to say welcome to EDM 310. It sounds like you have had a busy college life. I am also majoring in Secondary English, and I actually want to teach overseas. I also love wakeboarding and white water rafting as well. You sound like you have a lot of passion for English, as do I. What English professors have you had so far?
Where did you go to college before South? I learned to surf in middle school. My older sister taught me. I then got a board of my own and began going as often as possible. I don't get to go as much as I would like to, but every chance I get, I head to the beach! Where did you go to high school?
ReplyDeleteSorry I just read your blog and all my questions were answered!! That is awesome that your dad owns that restaurant! I would love to try it! KUDOS on your musical talents!!!
ReplyDeleteJamie Lynn- Thats really cool. Where overseas do you want to teach? As far as English teachers go, at South I have had Mary Schaffer and Alice Kracke. The rest of my English courses I took at Auburn. After this semester, besides 3 or 4 courses, I have all English classes left. Any recommendations for good future teachers??
ReplyDeleteMary Ashley- Thats awesome that your older sister taught you! I'm so jealous! Are you y'all really close? You should definitely Sweet Bones if you're ever in town! I recommend the chicken and pork egg rolls, smoked wings, and chocolate bread pudding! They are all my favorites. They are considering opening one in Tuscaloosa and one at the beach.
